crash w/ The Clash ends softly

at the Y

The Clash comes blaring through the speakers

odd

trying to integrate what the Y represents

with

what diggin’ The Clash meant to my 12-years-old finding-myself-self

consternating over the mash-up of cultures and time-space and meanings

i silently guffaw

at my status as a so-close-to-40-year-old-i-can-smell-it school teacher

pedaling for nowhere in an elliptical jog

whose hormones are as whacked now as they were in

the tumult of ’86 – yeah

and accept the wabi sabl nature

of hearing The Clash blaring at the Y

in the ripples and waves of fall 2013…
